Apple Maps, Bing, and the directories nobody checks
Google gets the attention, but iPhones route through Apple Maps, Alexa asks Bing, and the assistants cross-check all of them. A mismatch on any one reads as risk.
Ask an owner where their listings are and they will say Google, and they are right that it matters most. It powers the map pack and most of what an AI answer says about you. But it is not the only door, and the assistants in particular read several doors and compare them.
The other four
- Apple Maps: every iPhone, iPad, and CarPlay search for a business nearby starts here. Claim it through Apple Business Connect.
- Bing Places: powers Bing, and Bing powers Alexa and a lot of Windows machines. Free, and you can import from Google.
- Yelp: still heavily read for home services, and many apps pull business data from it.
- Facebook: the page is a listing too. Hours, phone, address, and a recent post.
The only rule
Name, phone, and address must match exactly on all of them. Not “Breeze Cleaning” on one and “Breeze Cleaning LLC” on another. Not an old cell number on Yelp. When a person or an assistant sees two versions, the safer choice is the competitor with one.
It is an afternoon of work once, and then a check twice a year.
